Shri Shakti LPG Ltd., (SSLPG) has pioneered the introduction of LPG as auto fuel and has actively contributed to the various deliberations of the Government of India for release of necessary Standards, passing of Notifications etc., for LPG as auto fuel.

SSLPG had conducted a Pilot Project in Andhra Pradesh on 3-wheelers which was flagged off by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri N.Chandra Babu Naidu on 17th March, 2000. The Pilot Project had been highly successful and has clearly demonstrated the reduction in pollution possibly with use of LPG and the safety & performance of the Shakti Gas Auto Kit. The Transport Commissioner, Government of Andhra Pradesh has commented that “IT IS ESTABLISHED THAT LPG IS VERY POLLUTION FREE, COST EFFECTIVE AND CUSTOMER FRIENDLY”

SSLPG had developed in association with ARAI a LPG conversion kit for 3-wheeler as far back as of 1998 but due to delays in release of necessary Government Notifications and standards for the kit, its Type Approval Certifications could not be taken up. Now that the Notifications and Standards are in place, SSLPG has obtained Type Approval Certificates for its Shakti Gas Auto Kit vide ARAI/CMVR-LPG(In-Use)230B/2002-292 dt. 5th August, 2002 from ARAI the Statutory Testing Authority and is now ready to launch the auto kits for 3-wheelers all over the country.

Pollution caused by automobiles is the main factor for atmospheric pollution in our metro cities. In particular the two stroke engines of 2 & 3 wheelers are the main contributors to atmospheric pollution. With the Shakti Gas Auto Kit now being ready for commercialisation we can expect an improvement in the air quality in Hyderabad, where LPG dispensing stations have been established. SSLPG is going to launch commercially its Shakti Gas Auto Kit for three wheelers in the Cities of Hyderabad, Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkatta, Chennai, etc., shortly. Dispensing Stations are either already in place / going to be commissioned shortly in these cities. As and when other cities have dispensing stations, SSLPG will start installing the LPG kits in these cities also.
