Philosophy & Teaching Methodology

The philosophy that guides CHIREC is to offer QUALITY EDUCATION FOR ACHIEVING OVERALL EXCELLENCE.

Quality education will produce individuals with ambition and purpose, who will be successful in this highly competitive world. They will be good at everything and will make the right choices. Academic education alone is not sufficient to produce such individuals, a balanced curriculum with emphasis on overall development is essential.

The teaching methodology at CHIREC covers:

  • Goal setting
  • Identifying targets for each subject
  • Making teaching as interesting and varied as possible

Correlation among the different subjects is stressed upon. Text-books are considered only as a means to an end and not the end itself. Therefore an English lesson set in Europe (say) will have geography and history going hand-in-hand. Interactively, the class will understand (and remember) various other aspects of European culture, life-style, time-zones, climate, rulers, and more!

At Chirec, we also consider the computer a handy tool for reinforcing lessons taught. Programs are specially prepared and CDs are cut - to meet the specific needs of the subject and the class, specially for science and social studies.

Lessons learnt through group study, project and research add new dimensions to teaching. Field trips and neighbourhood walks familiarise children with their immediate environment, while actualising mathematical concepts such as distances and measurements!

Close parent interaction is maintained through a student diary, personal letters, phone calls, a monthly newsletter, and Saturday visits.

Practises such as a 25-minute informative morning assembly, and presentations on ‘Topic-of-the-Week’ by students, further innovative learning. Weekly topics could be as varied as ‘Endangered species’ or ‘Hygiene and table manners’!
